In the Rusland Valley
Oil on card, 8"x6"
After a long day at work yesterday I drove home along the A590 and decided to take a detour down the Rusland valley. I was tired and not really in the mood for painting but decided to have a go anyway.

Spring Garden
Oil on gessoed card,  8"x10"
On location this afternoon.
My neighbours garden has a lot of mature trees and shrubs and in bright sunlight gives dramatic light and shadows. The azalea was an incredible purple/mauve colour and even though the flowers were past their best it still made a striking contrast with the various warm and cool greens.

Sunlit Lane
Pencil and watercolour on paper. 8"x6"
I haven't done any watercolours for some time so this makes a nice change. I'm enjoying combining pencil sketches with colour. I find it a very quick method and very easily managed outdoors. I bought a thing called a Zipp Clamp paper stretcher which was about twenty quid. It works very well and is really light.
